COSMONAUTS AVENUE
Deadline to Apply: May 1, 2017
CA seeks submissions that are personal, necessary, darkly funny, unfunny, candid, unique, upsetting, popculture-y and untold. The winner will receive $500 and publication in Cosmonauts Avenue, this year’s judge is Roxane Gay. Details here.

BOSTON REVIEW'S GLOBAL DYSTOPIAS CONTEST
Deadline to Apply: May 1, 2017
Judged by Junot Diaz, the Boston Review is asking for fiction and nonfiction on the subject of Global Dystopias. Submit up to 5000 words exploring, investigating, or questioning global dystopia. Climate change, gendered violence, global democracy, afrofuturism, and post-humanism are all listed as possible topics, but submissions exploring any interpretation of the idea are welcome. SEQUESTRUM EDITOR’S REPRINT AWARDS
Deadline to Submit: April 30, 2017
Sequestrum, a literary journal of new prose and poetry, is holding a reprint contest aimed at republishing unsolicited literature. The Editor’s Reprint Awards will award over $500 to writers of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. Full details here.

GLIMMER TRAIN’S VERY SHORT FICTION
Deadline to Submit: April 30, 2017
Glimmer Train’s Very Short Fiction Contest is open to all writers, and any story that hasn’t appeared in a print publication is welcome! First place receives $2000 and publication in Glimmer Train. Winners are announced November 1. Guidelines here.

ARCADIA PRESS DEAD BISON EDITORS’ PRIZE

Arcadia Press is a non-profit literary arts organization serving Oklahoma City since 2008, and publishes Oklahoma's only independently-operated literary magazine, Arcadia. The winner of the Dead Bisons’ Editor Prize will receive $1,000. Details here.

MINERVA RISING PRESS
Minerva Rising Press - Memoir Manuscript Submissions
Deadline: April 30, 2017
We come into this world naked and shocked to be here. What has happened to you since that moment and how you feel about it is what makes your story. What decisions brought you to where you are now? Minerva wants to read what makes you you, what you question, what astounds you. They are interested in stories by all women, and encourage women of color and women who feel marginalized by their ethnicity to submit completed manuscripts of 25,000 to 70,000 words. BOA EDITIONS SHORT FICTION PRIZE

BOA Editions is pleased to accept submissions for the 7th annual BOA Short Fiction Prize. BOA seeks work that demonstrates the artfulness of writing rather than the twists and turns of plot. The winner receives book publication by BOA in Spring 2019 and a $1,000 honorarium. More information here.

RHODE ISLAND SCHOOL OF DESIGN

RISD is seeking an Assistant Director of English Language Learning to develop, implement, and assess academic support for RISD’s growing community of English language learners. The Assistant Director will work with academic departments and offices across the college to develop a set of practical and multifaceted action steps that will enhance ELL students’ academic success. INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

TETHERED BY LETTERS

An internship with Tethered by Letters will give you first-hand experience working in the publishing industry. The program is designed to bridge the gap between learning about publishing and actually working in the business. TBL will select one intern to receive a paid stipend in addition to several unpaid interns. The paid intern is expected to contribute on a higher level than other interns. This includes a more significant time commitment as well as leadership and management responsibilities. Details here.

CARNEGIE HALL
Deadline to Apply: ASAP
Carnegie Hall is seeking a marketing intern. The intern will develop valuable research and writing skills working alongside the Associate Director of Special Markets and Copy. CUE ART FOUNDATION

CUE seeks an intern to assist the Development Coordinator. Tasks include: updating Salesforce database for donor and project management, assisting with preparing grant application materials, researching fundraising prospects, helping to coordinate fundraising events, and maintaining website and social media content. WORKSHOPS

INDIANA UNIVERSITY WRITERS CONFERENCE

The Indiana University Writer’s Conference will take place from June 3-7, 2017, and is made up of workshops, classes, and readings led by a truly stellar faculty; Chris Abani and Alex Weinstein for fiction, Morgan Parker and Rickey Laurentiis for poetry, Mary Robinette Kowal for sci-fi/speculative fiction and Amy Kurzweil for comics/graphic novel.
