Creative Writing at The New School

Charles M. Blow of the New York Times visited The New School on Wednesday, September 25, for an unforgettable Riggio Forum hosted by Greil Marcus.

Blow, who is the visual Op-Ed Columnist for the Times, opened the forum by reading his much-discussed Op-Ed from July 15, 2013, "The Whole System Failed Trayvon Martin." He then discussed his close connection with the Martin family, as well as his surprise that the seemingly small, local story garnered so much national attention.

The forum continued as Greil Marcus asked Blow to talk about his education as a journalist, and how it is that he rose from a small paper in Louisiana to such a prestigious position at the Times.
