Creative Writing faculty, Sigrid Nunez’s novel The Friend has been nominated for The National Book Foundation’s 2018 National Book Awards Longlist. Sigrid is currently teaching an MFA fiction workshop at New School.

Sigrid Nunez has published seven novels, including A Feather on the Breath of GodThe Last of Her Kind, and, most recently, The Friend. She is also the author of Sempre Susan: A Memoir of Susan Sontag. Among the journals to which she has contributed are The Paris Review, The New York TimesThe New York Times Book Review, Threepenny Review, Harper’s, McSweeney’sTin House, and The Believer. Her honors and awards include four Pushcart Prizes, a Whiting Writer’s Award, a Berlin Prize Fellowship, and two awards from the American Academy of Arts and Letters: the Rosenthal Foundation Award and the Rome Prize in Literature. She has taught creative writing and literature at Columbia, Princeton, NYU, The New School, Boston University, and the University of California at Irvine, among others.
