Maria Caravainis Agency is seeking an intern for their small, busy, established boutique literary agency with numerous New York Times Bestsellers. Ideal candidate will be a voracious reader with both office experience and a strong desire to learn about the publishing industry. Knowledge and interest in a wide variety of fiction, including the genres they represent, also helpful. Primary responsibilities will include reading and evaluating query letters and manuscripts as well as general office assistance, such as mailings, filing, etc. Hours flexible. This is an excellent opportunity for a soon-to-be or recent graduate interested in learning the details of the publishing process. One of the largest literary agencies in the world, Writers House, is looking for Spring interns! Writers House provides an extraordinary amount of individual client attention combined with the benefits of full service foreign rights, subsidiary rights, and contracts departments. Taleamor Park, located on a scenic farm near Chicago, hosts two-week and longer residencies for writers and visual artists seeking quiet time and ample space. During the scheduled residency season of May through October, Taleamor Park will offer one assistantship each month. An assistantship provides the opportunity to participate in residency development and maintenance by contributing work in exchange for residency fees. An assistant contributes fifteen hours of work each week. Taleamor Park especially seeks applicants who have experience in building maintenance and construction, gardening and groundskeeping, park planning and construction, website building and social media marketing. Art + Auction and Modern Painters magazines are currently seeking motivated candidates for the spring semester. The interns will support a small, dynamic team in research, fact checking, transcription, and office duties, with opportunities to report and write for both magazines. Candidates should be interested in the visual arts, the art market, and/or contemporary culture. Good writing and communications skills, and a close attention to detail, are essential. Internships require a commitment of two to three days a week in their New York office for a minimum of three months and may be done in exchange for academic credit, though receiving school credit is not mandatory. They offer a modest stipend.
